Winning the lottery is a dream for many people, especially
those of lower economic status. Personally, I would LOVE to win a nice chunk of
money! How nice it would be to pay off our mortgage, our car, all the debt and
have a bit to invest or otherwise spend. Just paying off those bills would be a
nice monthly “raise”. Occasionally I
will get some scratch off tickets, and enjoy them. Once in a while I’ll win
something nice like $30 or $75. I don’t think I have ever won more than $75 in
one play or purchase. On the lifetime overall so far I am down. By how much I have no idea. Likewise
with the number draws….I will purchase a ticket here and there, maybe once or
twice a year. Not often. Am I playing
the lottery with this 1.5 BILLION? I don’t
plan on it…but that may change.
There is this meme that keeps coming around on Facebook
about splitting the big jackpot amongst everyone and putting an end to poverty.
There are a few flaws in this logic, aside from the horrendous math error ($1,300,000,000
divided by 300,000,00 = $4.33 NOT $4,330,000), there are plenty of other
reasons that a humungo lottery win and divide would be highly unlikely to solve
poverty, here are a few:
1) MINDSET
People
in a poverty mindset would have to make a major shift in their thinking,
beliefs and willingness to allow themselves to have money to get and stay out
of poverty. Likely they grew up in
poverty, or their parents did. If you grew up in a home where money was
tight, you may have heard things like
“We
have love and our family, that IS real wealth!”
“We have food on our table and a decent
roof over our heads, that is wealth enough.”
“Good
money takes hard work.” (or any variation of the have to work hard for money
idea)
“Who needs that kind of money? That’s just
crazy”
“No one needs that much money, they should
have to share it.”
“Those people have more money than God”
“Those people have no business with that
much money, they should have to pay more taxes”
And the list can go on and on.
Some of these are well meaning. In no way
can we reduce the truth of what wealth family and love are! However, in the context
of money, it is also a cop-out. It says “I am happy where I am and I need no
more”, which may be true. However, often there is an underlying fear of having
more.
2) FEAR
Fear of having more can be rooted in many
places, times and spaces. Throughout
history many teachings have said that money is evil or the love of money is
evil. The bible says in Matthew 19:24 “And again I say to you:
It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Often, this is taken to mean
rich in the monetary sense. However, is it possible that this one verse can actually
keep some people in suffering? If one believes that riches are happiness,
health, love, and a connection to the Divine, then yes, it can keep people in
suffering. But I digress….
Fear of many things keeps
people from allowing money in, or keeping money. Fears like:
Paying more in taxes
Displeasing God
Losing Friends
Being loved only for their
money
Being used
Losing government benefits
Becoming greedy or corrupt
These are very real fears,
and it doesn’t take much to discover them. Simply think about winning that
lottery….that 1.5 BILLION dollars….what does it feel like? Where in your body
is there tension? What is your first
thought?
3) BIGGER ENERGY
As I write this it is
becoming very clear that this is where I am at the moment. The concept of
having over $800,000,000 is a much bigger energy than I am in alignment with
right now. A cash payout would look like paying off my car, house and debt…fixing
the house and vehicles needing care and doing some additional projects. Donations
would be made and some random bills paid for others who are struggling.
This wouldn’t even put a
dent in $800,000,000. So, then it would
have to sit in the bank until I knew what to do with it. Until I know how to
have that much money.
This is why so many people have won the
lottery then ended up right back where they were to begin with. Their energy
doesn’t grow. Their financial IQ never changed. The beliefs they hold about
money and people with a lot of money never changed.
Do I believe that winning the lottery can
actually solve the poverty problem for the entire U.S.? Hahaha! No. Let me
rephrase that….yes, I believe it is possible – and extremely unlikely. Over 300,000,000 people are involved, every
one on their own soul path. Every one with their own lessons to learn. Some are
learning their soul lessons by being in poverty. Chances of all 300,000,000+ of us coming to
healthy abundance and prosperity beliefs in such harmony that poverty is
eradicated is highly unlikely. Possible,
of course! I truly do hold the belief that anything is possible. However, there are soul lessons that people
have incarnated here on Earth to learn. Poverty has played a role in the evolution
and growth of souls.
So, buy a ticket, don’t buy a ticket. As of the writing of this post, the jackpot is 1.5 BILLION. Do whatever
you like.
Whatever you do – if you win, big or not so big…grow your energy and
your beliefs into that money as needed.
Know that your existence is enough to make you worthy and deserving of having
all the money, love, peace and happiness you could ever want or need!
By the way, these are often issues that can and do stop people from making more money. It's all part of regulating your "prosperity thermostat". You can change that, you can raise your ceiling - some would say smash through the glass ceiling. When it comes down to the bare bones truth of it - it is your choice. You choose to grow and recognize your worthiness and ability to make and have money - or you choose to stay small. Refusing to choose IS a choice.
At some point, our souls will fully understand and know that there is another way to learn lessons and be able to implement such knowledge. Until then, work with what you know and continue to grow your knowledge and perspective. As you do, your ability and willingness to have increased wealth of all kinds will grow. You deserve to continue growing and to thrive. The Universe is abundant - It is your choice to allow it in or to refuse it.
